John Sylvester was an ambitious engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit who wanted to leave a mark on the world. He founded John Sylvester Engineering Company in 1959, which initially made and sold wrought iron gates, then bought and refurbished industrial machinery before progressing into manufacturing and ultimately moving into the trading of industrial fasteners and plastics. Together with his brother Arthur, who was also an engineer, they grew the business from one company in Bradford to six covering Manchester, Tyne Tees, Sheffield, Birmingham & London.  Such was their commitment; they continued to work into their 80's. Their mission, which stands true today, is...."To deliver superior value to customers and employees". This principle guides our business activities today, and the second generation of the Sylvester family now leads the company, supported by an excellent team, many of whom have been with us for decades.
